Inviting friends earns free guides and Premium

Share your link: friends get 2 free guides instead of 1, and every 2 friends earns you one.

Every account has a personal invite link, on the Invite friends screen in your dashboard. Sharing it is good for both sides.

Your invite link, and how far along the rewards you are.

What your friend gets

Opening your link and building their first guide gives them 2 free guides instead of 1, double the usual free allowance.

What you get

A referral only counts once your friend publishes their first guide: that's the point where they've actually started using mikum.me, not just signed up.

  1. 1Every qualified referral adds +1 free guide slot to your account, on top of your base allowance.
  2. 2Every 5 qualified referrals earns you a free Premium month, stacking up to 12 months.

Gifting counts too

If you build a guide for someone and hand it to them as a gift, that also counts as a referral once it is claimed and published. You don't need to send a separate invite link as well.

💡Friends who signed up but haven't published yet show as "waiting" on your Invite friends screen: nothing is lost, the referral just qualifies the moment they publish.

You'll hear about it

You get a text (or an email, if we don't have a phone number for you) the moment a friend accepts your invite and signs up, and a second one later when they publish their first guide, the point their referral actually qualifies and credits you. Both link straight back to this screen.

Invites are for new accounts

An invite link only rewards a friend who does not have a mikum.me account yet. If someone opens your link and signs in with an account they already had, nothing is added: no extra free guide for them, and the invite does not count towards your own free guides or free Premium months. It works the same the other way round: opening a friend's invite link while you are already signed in changes nothing on your account.

How your friend knows it worked

The first time they open their locations screen after joining, mikum.me confirms the invite: a note names you as the friend who invited them and says the extra free guide is already on their account. If they already had a mikum.me account, the invite adds nothing on either side: invites only count for people joining for the first time.

If the invite can't be counted (usually because they already had a mikum.me account) their locations screen says so in as many words, so nobody is left wondering whether the bonus guide arrived.

They can tell you how it went

Building a first guide takes about five minutes, and until now that was the end of the story for you: the referral counted and you never heard another word about it.

Now, right after your friend's guide goes live, they're offered a very short questionnaire: how it went, what was hardest, and whether they'd recommend mikum.me. Three taps, plus one optional line addressed to you.

  • You're told the moment one arrives: by text, or email if there's no phone on your account, with what they wrote in the message itself.
  • Everything they said is listed on this page, newest first, under your invite link.
  • It's optional and it's asked once. Nobody has to answer to finish their guide.
  • The same offer appears for someone who tapped Create your own guide at the end of a guide you shared, even though that isn't an invite and earns you nothing: you shared the link, so you're the one who'd want to know.

💡The most useful answer is usually the "what was hardest" tap. If three people in a row say the photos, they were shooting them in the dark of a stairwell, and that's a sentence from you away from being fixed.

You need an account first

The invite link is tied to your account: it is how the free guides it earns know where to land. While you are still building your first guide as a guest, mikum.me does not offer invites or gifting at all: the locations screen shows one thing, Create location guide. Sign up (it takes a few seconds and keeps the guide you have already built), and the invite and gift boxes appear on that same screen.
